Chapter 404 Rebuild Wealth Three hours later, the door to the emergency room finally opened. The doctor, looking exhausted, spoke with relief when he saw Vera and Xavier. "Luckily, the patient was brought in on time-his life was saved. But there will definitely be aftereffects from the stroke. You should prepare yourselves." Vera had seen how terrified William looked when he collapsed. Hearing that he had pulled through eased her mind. As for the aftereffects... she couldn't bring herself to think about that just yet.

Xavier's eyes flickered as he glanced at his mother. Catching sight of the hospital bed being wheeled out, he quickly stepped forward to help.

After escorting the patient to the ward, he excused himself. He mentioned that he needed to go hand grab stoiletries.

Standing outside the hospital, Xavier pulled out his phone. Eyes downcast, he dialed the number he had contacted only twice before.

"Dad had a stroke and was hospitalized. The doctor says he'll live, but there will be aftereffects." When there was no response on the other end, he hesitated before adding, his voice slightly hoarse. "Let's meet." After hanging up, he took a deep breath, glanced back at the hospital, and walked away.

Meanwhile, Sierra was at Jemima's house, discussing sissues she'd encountered while practicing piano. Xavier's call cas a surprise. She'd heard he was busy learning the ropes of company management, with no teven for friends.

Why would someone so eager to seize control suddenly reach out to her today? When she answered the phone and heard about William's hospitalization, Sierra was caught off guard. A surprising sense of relief washed over her, quickly followed by guilt. She was left with a tangle of conflicting emotions.

But when Xavier asked to meet, she didn't refuse. She wanted to see what his attitude would be at a tlike this.

"What's wrong?" Jemima asked, concerned by the complicated expression on her student's face.

Sierra shook her head and stood up. "Ms. Anderson, I have something to take care of, so I'll be leaving now." Jemima frowned. "I thought you were going to stay for dinner. What's so urgent?" Not knowing William's current condition, Sierra didn't want to say too much. She smiled apologetically. "Sorry, Ms. Anderson. Next time, I'll make it up to you. Goodbye." As Sierra hurried out, Jemima watched with concern. Janice, who had just cdownstairs at the sound of noises, couldn't help but make sour remark. "You're so concerned about her-why not go ahead and have her call you Mom?" Cóntent Jemima shot her a glare, her tone sharp. "With all this tfor idle chatter, have you mastered that piece yet?" Guilty, Janice pouted and stomped into her room. The loud piano notes that followed made Jemima shut her eyes, resisting the urge to discipline her daughter.

At a trendy downtown café, Sierra followed two young women inside. Listening to them promoting the cafe's specialties, she decided she'd order two to-go for her and Theo later.

"Over here." Xavier had arrived early and stood up the moment he saw her.

She walked over and sat down, glancing at the warm coffee in front of her with a smile. "It seems like you've picked up quite a bit lately."

He fidgeted with his glass of water finally speaking up just as Sierra took a sip. "Why did you have that far? Dad made mistakes, but he didn't deserve to be left with nothing. "Did you know he almost died?"

She stared at the agitated man across from her until he becamen uncomfortable. They she said lightly, "He's not left with nothing. If you feel so sorry for him, you can always hand the company back to him. "With Gray Corporation backing him, he might not strike it rich. But at the very least, he'll be able to rebuild ssavings."
