Chapter 284 Sarah's past arrogance and the way she had mistreated people had finally led her to this point.

"Once you're done, makesomething to eat," Amelia said, smirking. "Make it good, or I'll deduct the cost of the ingredients from your pay." Sarah instinctively protested, "The other maids aren't doing anything. Why should I have to cook?" Zedrick sneered, "A former heiress still has an attitude, huh? Don't you know who your employer is? You're a maid right now. You do what you're told-no questions asked." A maid nearby muttered, "Exactly." In the kitchen, Sarah sliced the vegetables with force, imagining she was cutting into Amelia instead. She racked her brain for a solution, and after a moment, Janice popped into her head.

Janice was wealthy now. A few hundred thousand dollars was nothing but pocket change to her. Sarah believed that with ssweet talk, she could charm Janice. Given Janice's soft heart, she was confident that Janice would agree. Besides, she would pay her back anyway.

With her mind made up, Sarah seized an opportunity, slipped into the bathroom, and called Janice. The moment the call connected, she asked in a voice laced with anxiety, "Hello? Janice?" Janice recognized her voice and hung up immediately without a word. Undeterred, Sarah redialed. "Janice, don't hang up! I need to talk to you." "And why would I bother talking to you?" Janice asked, her tone flat.

"I'm in trouble," Sarah said, her voice strained. "I desperately need a few hundred thousand dollars. It's nothing to you, right?" "Please, Janice, help me," she pleaded. "I swear I'll pay you back. Think of it as a favor for when my dad saved Jacob's life, remember?" A brief silence hung on the line.

"I'll send you the money," Janice said.

"Awesome! Thank you! Please hurry!" Sarah exclaimed, her excitement evident in her voice.

After hanging up, she walked out of the bathroom, smug satisfaction written all over her face.

"Hurry up with the food. Don't keep Ms. Burnett waiting," one of the maids urged. Sarah glared at her and snapped, "You people, born to serve, think you can bossaround? Well, guess what? I'm done. I quit!" Drawn by the commotion, Amelia strolled over. "Quit?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes!" Sarah said. Then, grabbing a pot of vegetable soup from the table, she splashed it right at Amelia. Fortunately, Amelia dodged just in time.

"Are you crazy?" Amelia shrieked.

Sarah smirked. "Amelia, don't even think I'll wait on you again. The penalty amount will be sent to you right away." Back in the living room, Zedrick watched as Sarah strutted in, carrying herself with arrogance. However, he said nothing. Instead, he calmly asked, "Where's the penalty money?" Sarah waited, but no transfer from Janice appeared in her account. She frowned and muttered, "Hold on a second." She pulled out her phone, planning

to call Janice again, but instead, she found a video message waiting. She tapped on the screen and sawam puppy romping around designer bags and jewelry. Janice watched nearby, unconcerned as the puppy pawed at the expensive items. They were all clearly luxury pieces. In the video, Janice looked at the camera and smirked. "Let's be clear, I'm not running a charity here. Frankly, I'd rather let my dog ruin my designer stuff than give any of the Fitzgeralds a single penny." Janice's voice cthrough the phone, and Amelia instantly recognized it.

"You actually crawled to Janice for help?" Amelia sneered. "Seriously, Sarah, how desperate @ne. you? What makes you think Janice owes you anything? You're the one who kicked her out and insulted her. And now, you're begging for help?"

She paused, a grin spreading across her face as she added, "Too bad for you, huh? Janice would rather turn nice her money into a toy for a dog than lend you a penny. Do you really think she'd spend her money on you? Honestly, I'm embarrassed for you."
