Chapter 145 Serena's breath caught for a moment, but she quickly masked it with a faint smile and said, "Mr. Vance, given your history, can you blme for being suspicious?" Aaron leaned in even closer, his forehead nearly touching Serena's, "Are you really suspicious, or deep down, do you hope I cto see you?" His breath lightly brushed against the contours of Serena's face.
She stiffened, not daring to move, her eyes lifting to meet Aaron's face, so close to hers.
His dark hair fell across his forehead, highlighting his striking features and giving him an air of noble elegance. With a chiseled nose and slightly upturned lips, his face seemed like a masterfully crafted piece of art, exuding an innate sense of privilege.
Once, Serena had both loved and loathed this face. Now, she felt only indifference.
"Oh, Mr. Vance, you sure have a way with jokes-" she said, lifting her hand to press against Aaron's chest, gently but firmly pushing him away, before smiling sweetly and adding, "If there were a button to make you vanish, I'd wear it out from pressing it so much." Aaron's expression darkened.
But Serena had already taken out her keys, opened the door, and stepped inside, leaving him staring at the closed door, his gaze growing heavier.

Her thoughts of moving out gradually faded.
Perhaps, just as Aaron had suggested, he really was there only to inspect the property.
Early Sunday morning, Serena received a call from Samuel.
"Are you free today? I've got sgood news for you!" Serena replied, "I am." "Great, let's meet downstairs at your place." "Alright." After hanging up, Serena stood in front of her wardrobe. Initially, she planned to throw on a coat and head out, but as she glanced at her bare face in the mirror, she decided to dress up a bit.
Not to please others, but to please herself.
Once she had done her makeup, Serena put on a black cape coat paired with knee-high boots.
Her long, slender legs looked even more elegant in the boots.
Feeling much more spirited, Serena's mood lifted.
When she got downstairs, Samuel was already waiting.
Seeing her, his heart skipped a beat before he could speak, "You look stunning today." Serena smiled, "Thank you." "Shall we find somewhere to sit?" "Sure." Across the street from her building was a cozy café, and the two of them walked inside.
Being a weekend, the café was bustling with people.
Despite the crowd, their entrance drew immediate attention, especially as several people recognized Serena and discreetly snapped photos with their phones.
"Let's go upstairs," Samuel suggested with a frown, not fond of the attention. "Okay." Serena nodded slightly and followed Samuel to the second floor.

"So, what's this good news you wanted to share?" Serena, asked as she settled into her seat. Samuel pulled out an invitation card.
Serena only needed to see the opening lines for her expression to shift.
"Yvonne Frost?" "Yes." Serena looked up, her eyes fixed on Samuel, who wore a subtle smile.
This Miss Frost was the youngest daughter of the Frost family.
Though the Frosts didn't wield as much wealth and power as the Vance or Foster families, they were still a formidable presence in Alderburg. She still vividly remembered Yvonne's bold pursuit of Samuel back in the day.
The girl had made quite a spectacle, holding banners and forming Hearts outside the boys' dormitory. It had taken Samuel quite an effort to shake Yvonne off. How on earth had they reconnected?
