Chapter 31 Last tAaron asked her if Serena was at Rosewood Gardens.

Without hesitation, she replied that she was, precisely because she knew Serena wasn't actually there.

Every servant at Rosewood Gardens treated Serena as if she were invisible.

Except for her-she kept a watchful eye on Serena's every move.

Whenever Serena so much as stirred, she would immediately report to Cynthia Lynwood, who was overseas-or rather, back in the country now.

As Aaron carried Serena past her, Olivia looked down guiltily. Once their figures disappeared around the corner, she quickly ducked into a quiet nook and dialed Cynthia Lynwood's number.

On the second floor.

Serena allowed Aaron to lay her down on the large bed.

She rolled over and cocooned herself in the blankets, even hiding her face.

Aaron's brow furrowed.

Did she really not want to see him? He reached over and pulled the covers away from Serena's face.

"Serena?" Serena stayed curled up, eyes shut tight, as if she hadn't heard Aaron at all.

It wasn't out of spite; she was simply exhausted.

Once, she would have stayed up all night just for a word from Aaron.

But now, she just wanted to take care of herself.

"Serena!" The bed dipped as Aaron sat beside her, and the next second, he grasped her chin.

The discomfort made her reluctantly open her eyes.

As she looked up, she met a pair of deep, dark eyes filled with irritation.

"We need to talk." "There's nothing left to say," Serena brushed away Aaron's hand, turned over, and tried to fall back asleep. "I've said all I needed to." Aaron pressed his fingers to his temple.

Was it just because they hadn't gotten their marriage license? Was Serena's reaction really justified? "I told you, we can go get the license anytime. The position of Mrs. Vance is yours." Serena chuckled softly to herself.

Aaron still didn't understand that their breakup wasn't about the lack of a marriage license.

It was about the countless disappointments over four years.

She had loved Aaron for seven years, and even a stone would warm up after that long.

But Aaron's heart was only for Cynthia Lynwood.

Nothing she did could penetrate that.

She was tired.

"Serena..." Aaron turned her over, and seeing her lie there like a lifeless doll, $ a nameless anger sørged through him. He leaned down, capturing her lips, as if trying to transfer his frustration to her. Serena opened her eyes in annoyance, her fists pounding against Aaron's chest. "Aaron, stop..." But her hands were quickly pinned above her head, trapped against the headboard.

The humiliating position made Serena struggle even more fiercely. "Aaron!!!" Aaron raised his head slightly, meeting Serena's angry gaze, his stern face showing a flicker of restraint. "Don't move." His breathing was heavy.

Serena understood all too well what that meant.

She pressed herself tightly against the mattress, her eyes locked on Aaron.

Even after four years together, she hadn't given him her first time.

She used to think it was because Aaron respected and valued her but later, she realized it was because he was saving himself for Cynthia Lynwood.

Sometimes she really couldn't understand if Aaron loved Cynthia Lynwood so much, why didn't he just be with her instead of accepting her confession?
