Chapter 77 Serena subtly turned her body, hiding her face in the shadows as she swiftly changed out of her evening gown.

"I bumped into your sister," Aaron mentioned casually.

Despite Serena's quick movements, Aaron caught glimpses of her skin, smooth and pale like silk.

His gaze darkened slightly, and he frowned.

"That girl is getting more and more out of hand. I'll have a word with her after the celebration." A sarcastic smile tugged at Serena's lips. Vivian didn't respect her because Aaron didn't truly care about her.

She absentmindedly tugged at the zipper on the back of her dress, lost in thought.

Suddenly- The zipper got stuck.

No matter how hard she tried, it wouldn't budge.

Serena's expression changed. She wouldn't ask Aaron for help; every tshe did, he coldly refused her.

"Let me," Aaron's lazy voice broke the silence, echoing softly in the room.

Serena's heart skipped a beat. The next moment, a hand rested on her shoulder, holding the fabric taut. His large hand, even through the thin fabric, felt like a brand, causing her cheeks to flush slightly.

She held her breath.

Behind her, Aaron's gaze was equally intense. Serena's skin was as white as porcelain.

The zipper closed inch by inch, each movement heavy with tension.

Their breathing becdistinct in the hushed room.

"I heard," Serena finally broke the silence, "you're announcing your engagement?" Aaron paused, "Who told you that?" "Vivian." "Nosy as ever." Detecting the irritation in his voice, Serena's lips curled into a faint smile. As she suspected, Aaron was announcing his engagement to Cynthia Lynwood.

So why had he insisted on her coming to the celebration? To humiliate her? "Congratulations." Serena's words were sincere.

Aaron raised an eyebrow. "Congratulate me?" As he spoke, the zipper was finally in place.

Serena turned, looking at his chiseled features with a slight smile.

"Congratulations on your engagement to Cynthia Lynwood. Anyway, I'm heading out now!" Aaron grabbed Serena's hand. "What are you talking about?" "Why are you playing dumb, Mr. Vance?" Aaron tightened his grip on her hand. "Who told you I'm marrying Cynthia Lynwood? Didn't you think, even for a moment, that the bride could be you?" Serena's eyes flickered with surprise, but only for a few seconds. She swiftly regained her composure. "Your bride could be anyone, but it will never be me." Aaron grew increasingly frustrated.

Just as he was about to speak, there was a knock on the door.

"Mr. Vance, Mr. Grayson has arrived." Mr. Grayson? William? William had cto Alderburg! Serena looked at Aaron, puzzled.

For the first tin a long while, Aaron saw a spark of curiosity in Serena's eyes. The thought of William, the man she almost married, only fueled his irritation. "Got it," Aaron replied curtly.

With that, he tightened his hold on Serena's hand. "Cwith me!" Serena couldn't break free and had no choice but to let Aaron lead her to the main hall.

After all, she would soon be leaving Aaron for good. There was no need el to provoke him now. In the hall, Serena indeed saw William.

He sat in a wheelchair, dressed in a black suit. His elegant demeanor made him seem like a prince straight out of a fairy tale.

A warm smile graced his features, making him approachablemomentarily making one forget that he was Young Master William.
