Suzy nodded. "Alright, fine. For your grandfather's sake, I'll help treat her but only
because of him."
Men were such liars. Victor was clearly worried sick, yet he couldn't admit it to himself.
She instructed him to carry Nadia into a guest room on the first floor.
After taking her pulse, Suzy's expression grew serious. Nadia's condition wasn't minor.
Victor, noticing Suzy's furrowed brow, felt his heart tighten. "How is she? Is it bad? It must be bad, right? She
wouldn't have started coughing up blood if it weren't serious."
Victor probably didn't even realize it himself, but his concern for Nadia was written all over his face.
Suzy glanced at him, about to respond, when Nadia suddenly woke up.
The moment her eyes landed on Suzy, panic flickered across her face. She assumed Suzy had already told Victor
the truth.
Before Suzy could say anything, Victor's voice cut in again. "Why aren't you saying anything? What caused her to

Hearing this, Nadia's tension eased slightly. Suzy hadn't told him yet.
She spoke up first, her tone cold. "What happens tois none of your business. Get out. | don't want to see
you.
Victor finally noticed she was awake.
His concern instantly turned to anger at her harsh words. "Do you think | want to deal with you? If it weren't for
Grandpa's upcoming birthday and the fact that he'd be worried if something happened to you, | wouldn't care if
you dropped dead right here in front of me!"
"Get out..." Nadia growled, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at him.
"Nadia," Victor snapped, his eyes blazing. "Watch your tone. You're nothing more than a bitch my family took in.
You have no right to speak tolike that."
Suzy, who had been silently observing, finally stepped in. Though it wasn't her place to interfere in their
argument, Nadia's current condition wasn't suited for this kind of stress.
"I need to examine her more thoroughly," Suzy said firmly. "You, out."
Victor hesitated but, hearing the steel in Suzy's voice, reluctantly backed down. He shot Nadia one last glare
before storming out.
As soon as the door closed, Nadia's tears began to fall. She quickly wiped them away, her voice soft as she
apologized to Suzy. "I'm sorry. | shouldn't have lost my temper here."

"You haven't told him about your illness?" Suzy asked directly, her gaze sharp.
Nadia let out a bitter laugh. “I planned to tell him, but even if | did, he wouldn't believe me. So, | kept it to
myself. Besides... Grandpa's birthday is coming up. | don't want him to Worry."
In the Steele family, Victor's grandfather had treated her like a granddaughter from the
Gay she arrived.
If he knew how serious her illness was, he'd undoubtedly be concerned. Though he was Turning eighty soon and
still relatively healthy, the stress of such news might change that.
Suzy sighed. "If you think he won't believe you, then I'll tell him myself."
"No!" Nadia immediately refused. "It wouldn't make any difference whether you told him or not, so thank you,
but no."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSeeing how adamant Nadia was, Suzy frowned deeply. "Maybe Victor isn't as heartless toward you as you think
he is."
“Ha!” Nadia's laugh was hollow. "Sure, maybe if | told him, his attitude towardwould change. But it would
only be out of pity.
And I'd rather not have that kind of affection.
"So, please, Miss Frost, don't say anything to him. Whatever t| have left, | just want to live it with my dignity
intact."
