Chapter 108 Isabel felt as though the ground had been pulled out from under her. The tension she'd been holding onto these past few days finally snapped, unraveling in the wake of his cold indifference.

Lyman frowned slightly before speaking, his tone serious. "I'm not joking. Let's get back to the matter at hand." Isabel managed a bitter smile. "Do you really think we should be having this conversation out here in the hallway?" A chill settled over her. She never imagined Lyman would go so far to defend that other woman. Now, he wouldn't even share the sroom with her.

Lyman glanced at her-she was standing there in her pajamas, clearly not an ideal situation, especially for someone constantly in the public eye.

With a sigh, he stepped inside.

Carole caught the hint and quietly slipped out, leaving the two of them alone.

She couldn't help but wonder-just a man and a woman alone together, could anything really stay innocent? Men, after all, are visual creatures. Isabel was beautiful, innocent-looking, and had a figure to match. There had always been a bit of chemistry between them-wasn't this the perfect recipe for something to happen? Carole was sure Lyman was just sulking, punishing Isabel for leaving to further her career, and that this new woman was just a way to get under Isabel's skin. If Isabel could just swallow her pride and make peace with him, that other woman wouldn't stand a chance. With Mr. Etheridge's protection, everything would be fine.

The thought calmed her, but she couldn't have been more wrong.

Once inside, Lyman left the door open and called out to Carole, "You're Isabel's manager. You need to handle this properly. Cin here and let's figure out the best approach." Isabel's face froze, words dying on her lips. Was Lyman really that oblivious, or was he deliberately refusing to be alone with her? She'd had other plans for this conversation...

"Lyman, this is a tricky situation. Maybe Carole=" "If she can't handle a crisis like this, perhaps you should consider getting a new manager," Lyman interrupted coolly.

Isabel's tone turned sulky. "In that case, you might as well leave. What are you even doing here? I can handle my own problems." It sounded almost like the petty bickering of a couple.

Normally, if she acted like this, Lyman would have softened and comforted her. But this time, his brows only drew tighter in irritation.

Carole's heart skipped a beat. This wasn't good. Mr. Etheridge actually seemed angry.

She jumped in quickly, "Isabel, don't say things you don't mean. The moment Mr. Etheridge heard you were in trouble, he rushed straight over. Why would you say something so thoughtless? He's right-I'll do my best to handle this." She shot Isabel a warning glance, urging her to back down. Pushing Lyman away now would only drive him further from her.

Isabel pressed her lips together, swallowing her pride and resentment. Every injustice she'd suffered-she swore she'd make that witch Effie pay for them.

After a moment, Isabel finally spoke, her voice quiet. "Lately, I've felt like someone's been watching me. Today... today he followedall the way home. He was outside my building." Lyman's eyes darkened as he turned to Carole. "Did you call the police?"

Carole nodded quickly. "Yes, I did.

They said they'd increase patrols in the area but so far, they haven't caught anyone."

Lyman nodded, then pulled out his phone and dialed a number. "Luther, I need two bodyguards here. They're to stay with Isabel around the clock. Keep her safe." Luther's respectful voice cthrough at once. "Yes, Mr. Etheridge. I'll see to it right away."

Once he hung up, Lyman looked at Isabel, his tone calm but leaving no Ο room for argument. XDon't go out for the next few days. Wait until the bodyguards arrive. If anything else happens, contact Luther directly." In other words, Luther would be handling everything from now on.

Isabel bit her lip, a flicker of defiance and disappointment passing through her eyes.
