Chapter 230
The word “why” echoed in the air.
Stephanie nuzzled against his chest, murmuring, “Because | like Sebastian...”
Her words echoed, each repetition hammering into Sebastian's heart like a thunderclap rolling over distant
mountains.
His pupils contracted as a wave of emotion surged within him.
“Do you like your brother, or do you like Sebastian?”
His deep, magnetic voice was unreadable-so neutral that even a sober person might struggle to discern his
emotions, let alone Stephanie, who was already half-asleep.
However, this time, Sebastian didn’t hear her answer.
A few seconds passed before he glanced down and saw that her lips slightly open, her breathing soft and even.
Her small, pale fingers, which had clung so tightly to his shirt, had loosened their grip.
She had fallen asleep.
Sebastian looked at her flushed little face, a helpless smile tugged at his lips.
He carried her upstairs and laid her gently on the bed. Just as he was tucking her in, she stirred, her drowsy eyes
hazy with sleep.
“Sebastian,” she mumbled.

“Hold me,” she whined, her voice laced with quiet grievance. “Holdall the time.”
“Alright,” he murmured.
Looking into her aggrieved eyes, Sebastian couldn't refuse her. He sat down on the edge of the bed, pulling her
into his
arms.
He was afraid that she would catch a cold after drinking, so he wrapped her up in the blanket.
He brushed a kiss against her forehead. “Be good, go to sleep.”
For a moment, it felt like they had returned to their childhood.
When she was a child, Stephanie had clung to him the sway, refusing to sleep without his presence.
If he had school, she would wait for him.
Through junior high, high school, even college, Sebastian had chevery night for her sake.
The distance to his school had been far, Mrs. Lucano felt sorry for Sebastian and wanted him to live closer. As a
result, he had taken Stephanie with him, hiring help to look after her in the house opposite the school. It wasn’t
until Stephanie needed to attend school that they moved back together.
Now, as Sebastian gazed at her red lips, his throat tightened, and his eyes darkened with something deeper.

Stephanie opened her hazy eyes. Recognizing the familiar warmth surrounding her, she felt she was drifting in a
dream.
Her slender arms wrapped around his neck, surrendering completely.
Sebastian stiffened for just a moment before responding-his kiss deepening, passionate and unwavering.

A buzzing noise woke Sebastian up. It was Stephanie's phone.
He glanced at the sleeping Stephanie before turning his attention to the stinging sensation on his lips.
After covering her with the quilt, he touched his lips.
Blood caway.
He couldn't help but pinch Stephanie’s cheek playfully. “Little tiger,” he murmured, “those teeth are quite
sharp!”
The phone kept buzzing. Sebastian picked it up and saw an unknown number. Uninterested, he hung up directly.
Meanwhile, Chris was on the other end of the line, repeatedly calling.
It turned out that Sebastian was the heir of the Lucano family.
The cooperation between the Ashford Group and the Lucano Group had fallen through. He didn’t believe that
Stephanie hadn't played a part in it.

Hearing the hang-up sound from the phone, he angrily dialed her number again..
This time, instead of being blocked, the call was answered.
“Stephanie, I'm asking you outright-what exactly is your relationship with Sebastian?”
Without waiting for the other party to speak, Chris asked bluntly, barely containing his anger.
“What do you think our relationship is?” cthe deep, low voice of Sebastian.
Chris’ grip on the phone tightened as he struggled to hold back his fury.
This was the first the felt this way in his life.
No wonder Stephanie dared to break off the engagement with him so aggressively. It turned out she had the
backing of the Lucano family.
