Chapter 103 I Will Find the Evidence Timothy grinned cheekily, "Don't be so mad, it'll just give you wrinkles, and you'll age faster." As Kelvin moved to grab Penelope, Timothy quickly stepped in, "Cool off, big guy. You don't want to do something you'll regret." He stalled, slowly moving towards the exit, and just as Kelvin was about to explode, he took off like a shot.
"Mr. Davis, I can't just let my child's life slip away," Fiona implored, crying and gripping his arm, "I wasn't even planning to make a fuss. All I wanted was for Penelope to apologize, yet she acts as if she'd rather die than say sorry... Do I look like someone to be easily bullied?" "Yeah, it was such a sweet child. Life is precious. No matter what, Penelope owes us an explanation!" Director Wright chimed in, discreetly winking at Fiona.
Fiona caught on immediately. "Mr. Davis, you have to stand up for me. Our child, we longed for it... it's so precious... I keep feeling like it's still here within my belly, keepingcompany..." Before she could finish her words, Fiona's body went limp and she collapsed to the ground.
"Fiona!" Director Wright shouted, "Mr. Davis, Fiona has fainted!" Kelvin caught her in his arms. "Call a doctor," he ordered, irritated and seething inside. He had intended to confront Penelope, but Fiona's sudden faint meant he couldn't leave.
Meanwhile, in the car.
Penelope sat in the back seat, gently caressing her abdomen.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtOnly now did she feel a wave of retrospective fear.
Her baby had been incredibly lucky.
After tumbling down the stairs and then delaying the surgery, her child was still miraculously intact inside her. Her precious little one.
"What the heck happened?" Monica demanded. "Penelope, telleverything." Penelope recounted the ordeal in exhaustive detail.
"Darn, darn, darn! What in the world is Kelvin thinking? He's like an executioner!" "Fiona is such a queen, right? Playing the victim by grabbing your hand? Please. As if she would actually help you. She's lucky not to be the one hurting you." "It was clearly premeditated! No doubt about it!" Monica was livid, unable to believe how Penelope managed to endure it all.
"Enough yelling," Timothy said, driving. "Right now, the major issue is that Fiona's baby is indeed gone." "She had it coming! Maybe she thought by falling on Penelope, expecting a human cushion, she'd be fine, but ended up hurting herself instead. And, as it turned out, Penelope was lucky!" "The process doesn't matter; Kelvin only cares about the outcome." Monica pouted, "Whose side are you on?" "Obviously yours. Otherwise, why would I rush to the hospital to save you both?" Timothy replied. "This is a tricky situation, Penelope. It's something you and Kelvin have to sort out between the two of you." Anyone else's involvement would be unnecessary.
Even the fairest judge can't settle family affairs.
Timothy added a word of caution: "And remember, especially avoid mentioning Brandon in front of Kelvin. I mean it." "If it weren't for Brandon, the kid would be gone." Monica spoke up, "You know, I used to think Nathan was a total jerk, not good enough for you. He just ditched you when things got tough. But now, looking back, any guy is a thousand times better than Kelvin." "Absolutely right!" Timothy boasted with a smirk, "Now you see how great I am." "Get lost." Penelope bowed her head, staying silent. Kelvin was indeed despicable and loathsto her. He'd never invested himself in their marriage, only ever exploiting her. And there was the feud standing between their families. Yet his treatment of Fiona was beyond reproach. He spared no effort or expense for her, always there to lend a hand. When Fiona wanted to act, he set up an entire film division just to cater to her needs. So, there's no such thing as a complete good-for-nothing; it's just that his warmth isn't for you.
"I don't know what Fiona's angle is; maybe she's trying to pushover the edge by using the loss of the child, to make Kelvin hateto the bone," Penelope said. "And she's succeeded." Returning to The King Manor, Penelope stood quietly at the entrance of the servant's quarters, her gaze trailing over the steps. This was where she fell. Now, the blood had been washed away by the servants, the steps gleaming like new, any trace of what happened seemingly erased.
Thinking back on all that happened, Penelope felt even more certain that it was all a premeditated act by Fiona. Stirring up a commotion at the doorway to the servants' quarters to draw her out, deliberately bringing up the visit to Mrs. Cooper to agitate her, and then closing in step by step, cornering her on the edge of the steps... "Mrs. Davis," the butler's voice sounded, "you've returned." She nodded lightly: "Yes. But I feel like I don't belong here anymore." "You're still part of this family." "Do you believe me?" Penelope looked at the butler. "Do you think I caused Fiona's miscarriage?" The butler replied, "I believe in Mrs. Davis." Penelope smiled. Even in the darkest and bleakest moments of life, there are still those who offer warmth.
"Yet, everyone believes me, except for Kelvin." She sighed, "He says I killed his child, that my family, the Coopers, has to pay the price." "Evidence could be found, a way to prove your innocence." "It's not that easy. Fiona covered her tracks perfectly; there's no flaw to pick at..." Unless Fiona confessed herself. But how could that ever happen?

Tpassed indistinctly until, in a haze, she sensed someone's piercing gaze upon her. Penelope's eyes fluttered open to find Kelvin standing by the bed. She bolted upright, recoiling into the corner. "When... when did you cin?" Kelvin just gazed at her, impassive.

But...
The sight of her peacefully sleeping somehow extinguished all his anger in an instant.
He didn't wake her, just silently watched over her slumbering face.
It was only when she awoke that Kelvin's demeanor chilled, the tenderness in his eyes as if it had never been there.
"You're sleeping pretty soundly," he finally spoke, his voice tinged with sarcasm. "No guilty conscience stirring up nightmares?" "I've done nothing wrong to lose sleep over," Penelope retorted, firm in her posture.
Kelvin raised an eyebrow skeptically. "Oh, have you?"
"This is the last tI'll say it - I didn't m cause Fiona's miscarriage. I'm innocent," Penelope Xocked eyes with him, her gaze unwavering. "I can't her prove it now... but I'll find the evidence to clear my name." Silence hung in the room.
Thinking he didn't believe her, Penelope hastily added, "Just givea little time!"
