Chapter 40 Mrs. Cooper is awake "Yeah," Kelvin replied. "How did you chere?" He held Penelope tightly in his arms and adjusted the blanket. "She hasn't woken up yet, Grandpa, please don't mind." "I understand, I understand," Grandpa nodded. "You must have tired her out, it's fine for her to sleep a bit longer." "As long as Grandpa knows." Penelope opened her eyes and saw Kelvin's chest just inches away, leaving her stunned for several seconds. "What is this!" "It's nothing," his voice gentle. "Don't worry about it, just go back to sleep." "Alright, I was just passing through, wanted to take a look, not to disturb you." Penelope blinked and looked towards the doorway, only then realizing, "Grandpa, you're here." "No problem, no problem," Grandpa said as he turned around, adding, "Kelvin, keep up the good work." Penelope was still confused for quite stbefore she snapped out of it. Grandpa had cto check on them, and now he had finished his inspection.

"You foolish woman, be smarter next time," Kelvin pushed her away. "If you let Grandpa notice anything wrong, you know the consequences." He climbed down from the bed, with broad shoulders and a slim waist, slowly buttoning up his shirt.

The man was indeed tempting. This scene was like a scene from a movie. However, Penelope didn't have the mood to appreciate it.

She watched his back and said, "Since the old man wants a child so badly, why don't you have one with Fiona? Start trying now, and when you get remarried, she will definitely get pregnant." Kelvin paused his buttoning motion, and his expression didn't look too good. "Shut up." "I'm just speaking the truth. Anyway, you like her, and she's willing." "I won't touch her casually," Kelvin said. "I'll only say these things after giving her a rightful status." Penelope lightly laughed, "Could it be, you're not capable?" Kelvin slowly turned around, his gaze icy cold. "What did you say?" As a man, how could he tolerate such doubts? "Yeah," Penelope fearlessly replies, "You never touch me, and you don't want to touch Fiona either. These monk- like days, what man would be willing to live like this? Besides, I can't think of any other reasons." Kelvin's hand tightens around her neck. "Don't try to provoke me. I won't touch you," his thin lips brush against her cheek. "Don't anger me, it won't benefit you!" Penelope wishes he wouldn't touch her. "So, are you planning to continue fooling Grandfather like this?" For the time, Kelvin squinted. "Get up, we're going to the hospital." Her alarm bells start ringing. "Hospital?" "Blood test," Kelvin says, "The director is still in danger, and your blood type matches. They need to keep drawing." Penelope rejects without hesitation. "I won't go!" Yesterday, the nurse drew so much of her blood. It already harmed her body. If they continue drawing today...

What about her child? Kelvin's tone was even more firm than hers. "You will go, even if you refuse." "The hospital can use the blood bank. Fiona can even draw herself!" "Your life is worthless, they can draw as they please." Penelope gritted her teeth. "I won't go." "Go willingly, or I'll take you forcefully. It's your choice." Kelvin straightens his posture, looking down at her, tugging at his necktie.

For the sake of her child, this time, Penelope must resist no matter what. "I won't!" "Mr. Davis!" The butler suddenly knocks hard on the door. "Just received a call from the hospital!" "Cin! What happened there? Is something wrong?" The butler answers, "It's Mrs. Davis's mother's hospital calling with news!" Penelope is startled, staring at the butler. "What happened to my mom?" She rushes out of bed, tightly gripping the butler's hand, panic in her eyes. Since Kelvin took Mrs. Cooper from the hospital, she hasn't heard from her mother.

"Mrs. Davis, it's good news." The butler smiled. "The hospital called to say Mrs. Cooper has woken up!" Penelope couldn't believe her ears. Her mother woke up? The vegetable...awoke! What an incredible medical miracle! Penelope finally hears sgood news.

No matter how aggrieved or painful she felt, she managed to hold back tears. But now, she is so happy that she cries and laughs at the stime. "That's great, that's great! I still have a mother." Tears trickled down, but they were tears of excitement.

Penelope turned around. "Kelvin, can I visit my mother?" Afraid that he won't agree, she quickly assures, "I just want to see her, nothing else! She must misstoo." "You can." Her eyes light up. "Really?" But she also faintly senses that something isn't right. Kelvin wouldn't possibly let her go just like that.

"So straightforward." He must have conditions. Could it be...

"Of course, it's true," Kelvin replied. "After you get your blood drawn, you can go directly to see your mother." Just as expected! Penelope had guessed it right! In the end, they still want her blood! With one hand inserted in his trouser pocket, Kelvin leisurely said, "Since you're getting your blood drawn anyway, cooperate a little, and you can see your mother." Penelope's nails tightened on the palm of her hand. On one side is her child, on the other is her mother. They both are precious to her. This decision was too difficult to make.

"You have five minutes to consider," Kelvin walked past her, "This is your only chance." His shirt brushed against the corner of her clothes.

Kelvin always keeps his word. If she hesitates any longer, she will end up not being able to see her mother even after getting her blood drawn! Penelope turned around and quickly grabbed his sleeve, "Kelvin..." He stopped and raised an eyebrow, "Hmm?" "I've made up my mind," Penelope struggled to speak, "I want to see my mother." "Then go get your blood drawn." "Okay." The butler spoke from the side, "Mr. Davis, you can't get blood drawn two days in a row." "Shut up!" Kevin barked.

Even the butler knows this common knowledge, but Kelvin disregards her well-being.

Penelope stood alone at the entrance of the master bedroom, looking down at her flat abdomen. "Baby, I'm sorry," she muttered to herself, "I have no choice either I also have a mother, and I really want to see her. Baby, Mom will take you to meet your grandmother. Please, be strong and don't leave Mommy. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, from now on, I'll take care of you with all my heart, protect you. Stay obediently in mommy's belly, okay?" Penelope had no other way; she could only hope that this child could survive with strength.

Going downstairs to the dining room, she found that the butler had specially prepared blood-enriching food for her in the kitchen.

Penelope glanced at the butler gratefully. During this time, the butler had been helping her both openly and in secret. He was the only one in The King Manor who truly treated her well. The other servants, to sextent, looked down on her, their eyes filled with disdain.

Penelope ate her fill with great effort; she couldn't afford to have any issues, otherwise, the child in her stomach would truly be at risk.
