Chapter 262

Very soon, the courthouse opened its doors. Lily went in first to wait for their turn. She sent Xavier a text to

remind him not to be late but received no reply from

A Cullinan was parked in a corner of the street outside the courthouse. Xavier had arrived long ago and had been

watching Lily in secret the moment she got off the bus.

Xavier noted that Lily was all dressed up, looking more refined than those who were there to register their

marriage.

He didn't think she was truly there to finalize their divorce. To Xavier, Lily seemed like she had deliberately

dressed up to seduce him and have him reject the divorce.

For five days, Xavier felt like he was living through years, waiting for Lily to show up at his door and say, "Let's

not divorce". Or perhaps she would resort to scluinsy means to convince him to give up.

But nothing cfrom his waiting. In the two years of their marriage, Lily would text him almost every day, yet

the past two months had been absolute silence.

Xavier tried to observe her secretly, looking for any sign that she might be faking it, but there was none. He

frowned, unable to figure out what had gone wrong.

There was a loud knock on his car window. Xavier turned and saw Lily standing outside. Lily had just finished her

coffee and noticed his car parked there when she threw the cup away.

She watched him for five minutes, and still, Xavier hadn't gotten out, and he still didn't move after she had

knocked on his window. When Lily raised her hand to knock again, the window rolled down all of a sudden. The

sunlight framed Xavier's face, his pale skin sharp against his defined features, and his dark eyes reflected Lily's

face.

"What's the rush?" Xavier said lazily as he picked up his documents and stepped out of the car.

He looked gloomy, and no one could tell what he was thinking. Lily had no interest in why he was taking forever

in the car. She saw his documents and urged him, saying, "Hurry up, it's our turn soon." Lily crossed the street

quickly, and the hem of her skirt fluttered in the wind, brushing against Xavier's legs. He followed and climbed

the steps with her.

As he watched her back, he suddenly recalled that she had walked ahead just as cheerfully on the day they got

married. At the time, he hadn't been unwilling, but he wasn't very happy either. Now, however, a wave of

inexplicable displeasure swirled in his chest.

"We're just in time," Lily said as she pushed open the door to the courthouse. Their number was just called. She

tumed and dragged Xavier to window six, then handed over their documents. Xavier was led by Lily the entire

way, his mind was blank and chaotic at the stime. He just stared at Lily beside him.

The courthouse staff read through their documents and asked, "Do you want to fill in the property section? It will

prevent disputes in the future."

"No need, I'm leaving with nothing." Lily smiled, filled out the other information, and signed the divorce papers.

Her handwriting was small, neat, and elegant.

This was the first tin Lily's life that she couldn't wait to write her name. Then she corrected herself that this

was the second time; the first twas in the splace, too.

After she was done with her papers, she made sure all the details were correct and handed the documents back

to the staff.

Once she signed, they would go their separate ways. Lily bid Xavier farewell silently in her thoughts. There was

sheartache, but she felt more anticipation than sadness.

Lily turned to look at Xavier. He was holding onto his pen and staring at the papers. He still hadn't signed it.

You can sign it without worry. | want nothing else from you," Lily said.

Xavier lifted his eyes slightly and stared at her. "Lily, are you sure you want this divorce?"
