Chapter 308 Zack sprang up instantly. "Heck yeah! I haven't had a proper meal in days. Tonight, I'm indulging! Letgo pick out a few outfits." With an exaggerated sway of his hips, he sashayed up the stairs.
Dexter had just returned hwhen he overheard their conversation.
"You're still recovering. You can't eat anything spicy," he reminded Angela absentmindedly as he set down his briefcase.
Angela had been through a rough couple of days. She had just escaped death's door, only to be caught up in Zack's mess right after. Things had been overwhelming.
"Fine, I'll just not order anything too heavy on the palate." Angela agreed without much thought.
Oddly enough, she initially didn't think much about her near-death experience. All she could think about for the past few days was Zack's situation.

Unconsciously, she felt a tightness in her chest and her breathing growing labored.
"What's wrong?" Dexter quickly strode over, closing the distance between them in just a few steps. "Are you feeling unwell?" "This is your fault. You remindedof what happened." Angela shot him a glare. Dexter's expression darkened.
"But I was already unconscious at the time... I shouldn't even remember what happened." Angela stared blankly into space, confused.
Dexter brought her a glass of warm water. "Well, even if your mind doesn't remember, your body remembers the fear. From now on, no matter what you do, be more careful. Always take... Joanne with you." After Angela's brush with death, Fiona had reassigned Joanna to be Angela's personal bodyguard again, sticking to her like a shadow, solely focusing on her safety.
"I got it." Angela sighed helplessly.
She couldn't shake the feeling that her ties with Dexter were growing more entangled, but the thing was, she still owed him since he had saved her life twice now.
Sthings weren't as simple as wanting to draw a clear line. Since that was the case, she'd just leave things up to fate. She would take things one step at a tfor as long asit lasted.
That evening, the four of them went to a well-known seafood boil restaurant in Eldmere City.
Since Angela couldn't have anything spicy, she and Dexter shared a non-spicy seafood boil at one table, whereas Zack and Joanne-who had hearty appetites-ordered the spiciest food at another.
"Joanne, are you strong? How many people can you take on at once?" Zack asked cheerfully while serving Joanne a piece of shrimp.
After the recent mess, he was seriously considering learning kickboxing. If something like that ever happened again, maybe muscle memory could save him.
Joanne barely spared him a glance. "A hundred of you wouldn't be a problem." Zack had just taken a bite of an extra spicy piece of lobster when he heard that. He immediately choked, coughing violently, his eyes turning red as tears spilled out.

With a sigh, Joanne passed him a glass of iced Coke. The moment Zack took a sip, he felt like he had k just added fuel to the fire as his suffering intensified. "You're so weak," Joanne sighed again, standing up to pat his back.
But with one slap on his back, Zack shot forward, tumbling off his seat and landing face-down on the floor, flopping like a fish out of water. At the next table, Angela couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Zack shot her a resentful look, mumbling, "What kind of sister are you? Are you sure I wasn't adopted?" With a raised brow, Angela continued to laugh heartily, but her laughter suddenly stopped halfway through.
She suddenly remembered that Amber might be nearby. If Amber were to see them having such a good time, she would probably be heartbroken.
Angela cleared her throat before shooting Zack a warning glare. "Watch yourselves in public."
Sure enough, moments later, Angela's phone rang. It was Amber.
Uosts was Ang She said she was upstairs in the srestaurant and asked Angela to cup for a chat. The will be updated first on this website. Cback and continue reading tomorrow, everyone!
