Chapter 1126 See You Cry

"I can't shake the feeling that Lennon has ulterior motives," Cherise said, furrowing her brow with concern.

Damien's lips curved into a faint smile as he gazed affectionately at the woman on his screen. "How are the strawberries?"

Cherise popped another strawberry into her mouth, savoring it. "They're quite delicious."

"If you like them, I'll tell Otto to get smore for you."

"Don't change the subject," Cherise huffed, her crystal-clear eyes glaring at him. "We're talking about Lennon. Don't think | won't

notice if you try to dodge the topic."

Her pouty expression brought a rare warmth to Damien's usually stern features. "You've grown more perceptive."

"Of course!" Cherise retorted, sticking out her lower lip. "I'm a mother of two now—of course, I'm perceptive!"

"Perceptive, you say?" Damien chuckled, not bothering to argue. "Regarding Lenn, | can't tell you much now."

"Why not?" Cherise asked.

"Because you're too close to Lucy," Damien explained, sipping his coffee. "Lucy finally decided to break ties with him, and he's

decided to stop pursuing her. You don't want them to keep hurting each other, do you?"

Cherise nodded reluctantly. "But... don't you trust me?"

"It's not about trust," Damien sighed, shaking his head. "I simply had too much faith in your bond with Lucy. You'd find it hard to

keep quiet. You'll find out everything in due course. For now, just know that Lennon has his reasons."

He set his cup down. "I told you about Lennon helping Colin because | need your help."

Cherise's eyes widened. "What do you need my help with?"

"Try to prevent Lenn and Lucy from crossing paths as much as possible," Damien said calmly. "Make sure they don't run into each

other during this time. Also, don't let Lucy find out that Lennon is in Yatesville or that he's helping Colin. It's better for everyone."

"Sure," Cherise agreed reluctantly. Her enthusiasm deflated as she slumped over the table. She had lost her appetite and poked at

the strawberries. "But what exactly are Lennon's reasons? A man who can't even protect the woman he loves... what kind of

reasons could he have? The Belcourt family may have raised him, but does that mean Lucy has to suffer for it?"

Damien had no easy answers to her questions. He sighed, offering a weak smile. "Things will resolve themselves in time. You've

only just regained your memory. Don't overthink things. If you wake up one day and don't recognizeagain, I'll be the one

crying."

Cherise's eyes sparkled with mischief. "I don't think I've ever seen you cry. Why don't you cry fornow while your office is

empty? | promise | won't tell anyone!"

Damien's expression softened into an indulgent smile. "I think you're asking for trouble."

Colin's first meeting went unexpectedly well. With Lennon at his side, no matter how tricky the shareholders’ questions were, Colin

handled them with ease. By the end of the meeting, although sstill doubted Colin, they all held Lennon in high regard.
