“Toni Gonzaga-Soriano-
"Oh, my God, Sam! This is life!" Jack screamed near my ear and | chuckled at her as | have already mentioned
that line the last twe went to the sbar. "Con, let's dance!" She even tugged my arm to go to the
dance floor.
"Wait, I'll just finish my drinks," | said bringing the glass of ladies drink to my mouth.
"Make it fast! The music is good, | love it!"
"Fine! Let's go, madam!" | chuckled, letting myself be dragged into the middle where our friends were having
fun.
We let the music embraced our soul and body for almost thirty minutes and didn't go back to our seats until we
felt exhausted and our makeup was wasted. We were with Paul and two of our high school friends and of course,
sof our employees who we invited at the last minute.
"So, how are things going on with you and your boyfriend, Sam? | heard he went back to New York?" Paul asked
Deep in my mind, | don't have to ask him where he got the information from because | already have an idea.
"Yeah, call of duty," | replied with a shrug, simply raising an eyebrow at my best friend and flashing her a smile
that for sure she already understood why.
"Ahh..." He said nodding, bringing the glass of whiskey in his mouth. "Is he that kind of possessive boyfriend?"
"No, he's not possessive." | frowned, immediately shook my head. "He letdo | want as long as it will not
affect our relationship. Why do you ask?"
"Well, | was just thinking of inviting him to cwith us tonight, but | heard he's already back at work."
"Yeah, he's a surgeon and one of his fellow doctors called him saying he had to go back to his duty."
There were a few questions he askedabout my personal life and since the spirit of alcohol has already mixed
into our sanity, | just found myself answering those questions. But of course, | did the same. | put the two in a
hot seat where they should have been cornered, but they got a smart ass and just laughed at me.

Jack said they were just friends and so with Paul, but he said if he would be given the chance to be her boyfriend
or if Jack would give him a chance to woo her, he would definitely grab that chance.
11:45 pm. The last t| checked the tfrom my wristwatch was 15 minutes before midnight, but when |
checked again, it's already 1:00 in the morning. Jennifer and Rolly, our high school friends already bid their
goodbyes including 2 of the coffee shop employees. So, there were only 5 of us left in the group who remained
standing and swaying in the middle of the dancefloor.
"Hey, aren't you feel tired?" | asked, dragging Jack towards our table. She seemed like she drank ten bottles of
energy drink as she didn't seem to lose her energy.
"Nope!" She giggled and passedthe glass of tequila. "We're not going huntil 4:00 in the morning."
"Oh, my God!" | squealed looking at the entrance, but she thought what she said was the reason why |
screamed.
"Uhuh! And you can't say no tothis time!" She giggled, shaking her head.
"That's not what | meant! Did you tell my brother where we are tonight?" | asked with my eyes wide open in
surprise. "What? Of course, not! Why would | do that?" She askedback frowning.
"Holy shit!" | blinked repeatedly to make sure | wasn't just being played by my own eyes. "Am | seeing my
brother?"
"What?" But she just laughed atand ignored what | said.
| know I'm starting to get a little tipsy, but I'm not drunk, so I know it's him | see passing through the sea of
dancers and frustrated to becdancers. But the problem is, it's not just him. Luke is with him and they are
now walking towards our table. "He's here! | mean they're here!"
"Who are you talking about---" she asked, turning around and saw the person she hated the most approaching
her seat. "Who the hell invited him?"
"That's also my question!" | shrugged. "Did you invite them?"
"Hell, no! Why would | do that?"
| never got the chance to speak as the uninvited guests have already made their way to our seats.
They started bickering for who invited the two to the bar, but Dale answered that they don't need to be invited
because they can go on their own. And at that moment, | proved | was right when | thought Dale would flare up
with jealousy when he found this out, especially when Paul cback to the table.
But | tried to ignore them when | felt
Luke intense gaze in front of me. The moment | smelled his cologne earlier made my stomach churned and
because it's getting awkward as neither of us wanted to open our mouths, | took another shot. lost count of how
many shots took, so | can't explain why | suddenly felt the burning sensation in my throat.
"Aghh! Bitter yet sweet!" | exclaimed, licking the salt and then the lemon.
| already knew my brother's reason why he suddenly appeared uninvited, but | don't want to know the reason of
the person who kept staring atat the moment.
"Aren't you going to drink?" | finally got my confidence to ask him.
But to my surprise, he just shook his head. "No, | won't touch any drinks because | want to take you hsafe
and sound."
A loud chuckle escaped my lips, but since there was blaring music echoing throughout the bar, no one noticed
"Ohh... how sweet of you,
ex-husband..paused when |
realized what | had just said, but it's too late to take it back, so I just
finished my statement. After all net
what said was true. "...but | couldn't remember asking for your help to takehome. | drove by myself when |
got here and | can drive myself hagain."
"I know, but you're drunk---"
"And who says I'm drunk? I'm not drunk---not yet!" And to prove what I said, | stood up with another shot in my
hand.
"Samantha---"
He got up too and tried to get the glass from me, but it's too late as I've already drunk it.
"Oops! Trying to get the glass, huh?" | giggled.
| looked around, my eyes were searching for my best friend, but she's nowhere to be found.
"Wow! The bitch of my best friend who invitedfor a drink has already left me." | mumbled to myself, shaking

I'm not mad, | have no reason to be mad because | know Dale is now taking care of her. The problem is that |
also couldn't catch a glimpse of Paul and sof our employees who were just dancing in the middle earlier and
another one, | was left with the last person | shouldn't have spoken to... my ex-husband.
| decided to go to the dance floor, but | was just taking my first step when Luke immediately grabbed my arm
with a serious expression written on his face.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to dance." | shrugged, taking my hand out of his grip.
"No, no, no! You can't go back there, Sam."
"And why not?"
"Because you're already drunk."
"I said I'm not drunk! Con, don't be such a party popper, besides I'm not a kid anymore, | know what I'm
doing. If you want, you can joinin the middle."
| winked at him and ran immediately to the dance floor.
"Whoa! Let's dance, guys!" | screamed, not bothering of the stares of the millenials around me. Deep in my
head... "You don't own the dance floor".
And since | was already indulged in my own world, swaying, screaming and giggling, suddenly forgot Luke
presence didn't know he followedon the dance floor, with no intention of dancing. He just stood a few inches
fromand watchedenjoy the music. | even sang with the song of Anne Marie that was currently playing at
the moment.
"Dancing on the hood in the middle of the woods on an old mustang where we sang songs with all our childhood
friends and it went like this, say... Oops, | got 99 problems singing bye, bye, bye. Hold up, if you wanna go and
take a ride withbetter hit me, baby, one more time, uh..."
| was in closed eyes while dancing freely that | didn't notice the way Luke warned one of the guys who tried to
touch me.
"Don't fucking touch her, baby boy, if you don't want to find your head disconnected from your body!" He said
narrowing his eyes, so the poor guy disappeared instantly from the dance floor.
"Paint a picture for you andon the days when we're young, uh... Singing at the top of both our lungs on the
day we fell in love. Ooh ooh, ooh-ooh, on the day we fell in love. Ohh ooh, ooh-ooh..."
