Chapter 234 Warning The moment I finished speaking, Jack's expression flickered with shock. Beyond the surprise, there was also a hint of confusion. He was just as eager to figure out what gI was playing.
A small smirk curled at my lips. "I had my assistant look into it and found out that the paperwork was wrong. The project flagged for a payment freeze was actually a different, old sunset venture. With everyone backing the production company, how could Jack possibly go against the crowd?" As I spoke, I turned to face him directly. "Isn't that right, Jack?" He froze for a second before quickly responding, "Right. It must've been a mistake in the documents and I didn't notice. I'll have them process the payment as soon as this meeting is over." As soon as he finished speaking, I caught the subtle sigh of relief he let out.

We put our trust in you when we made you vice president. Don't let us down." Lucius nodded in agreement. "Exactly. This project has been stalled due to funding issues for so long. Who knows how much we would've lost? Good thing we caught this in time, or it would've been a disaster." I chuckled and stepped in to smooth things over. "No need to worry. The original timeline already accounted for unexpected variables. As long as nothing else goes wrong moving forward, the losses will be close to zero." Hearing this, Dad gavean approving look.
With that, the meeting concluded, and everyone began filing out in an orderly manner.
I didn't linger either and grabbed my notebook to head back to my office. Just as I reached the door, Jack called out tofrom behind.
I turned around with a faint smile on my lips. "What is it, my dear brother, Jack?" I deliberately emphasized the words "dear brother".
Sure enough, Jack's expression darkened, shifting between red and pale before he finally spoke. "Why did you helpjust now?" I let out a mocking laugh. "Don't flatter yourself. You think I was helping you? No, I was helping the Brown family and Dad. If the shareholders found out just how stupid your move was, do you really think they'd just blyou? They'd say it was because Dad didn't raise you properly." A flicker of guilt crossed Jack's face at my words. Upon seeing this, I pressed on, "This wasn't just about a simple mistake. It involved the company's profits. We were lucky we caught it early. But if it had been discovered too late, do you really think there wouldn't have been any losses? "How can you be this naive? Do you seriously believe this is the way to control me? All you're doing is cutting off your own escape route." I could understand why Jack and Elsa wanted to bringdown. But this strategy was so reckless and self- destructive that I couldn't comprehend why Jack still charged ahead with it.
Of course, if this was Elsa's idea, then she had played it safe. She had kept herself out of harm's way.

I scoffed, and my gaze was cold as I stared Jack down. "Letguess.
om This whole plan was Elsa's idea, wasn't it? This kind of half-baked scheme? Only she could cup with something this ridiculous."
A flicker of hesitation flashed in Jack's eyes, but he still shook his head. "It wasn't her. She doesn't m know anything about this. Don't assthe worst about her. She only wants to join the company and help out. She has no ulterior motives."
I let out a sharp laugh. "You really are hopeless. Calling you naive would be an insult to the word. I don't care whether you're telling the truth or hot. I don't even care if this was Elsa's idea. But if something has the potential to put the Brown family at risk, I expect you to think before you act. Don't pull another stunt like today. I won't always be there to clean up your mess."
