Chapter 257 Eavesdropping I sneered inwardly but kept my face tense with worry. "There's no tto panic. She's probably still inside the banquet hall. Let's look around." Jack wasn't exactly stupid, but the moment anything involved Elsa, it was like his brain was short-circuited.
Without questioning me, he nodded and followed my lead. Just as planned, I led him through the venue, weaving through hallways and corridors until we eventually stepped into the outdoor garden. Winding past the towering hedges, we finally spotted Elsa.

He turned back, frowning. "What are you doing?" I kept my expression calm. "Does she look like she's being kidnapped to you? She's clearly having a serious conversation. If you go barging in now, wouldn't you just be interrupting her? What if the person she's talking to is offering her a design collaboration? Wouldn't you just be getting in the way of her career?" Jack shota suspicious glance. "You're awfully considerate today." I rolled my eyes. "I just don't want her screwing up our company. If she has a promising future elsewhere, why would I care?" Then, I gave him a little shove and snorted. "But hey, if you don't believe me, go ahead and rush over. Just see if she doesn't turn around and blyou for ruining her chance." Jack had never been hesitant when it cto Elsa. Surprisingly, he didn't argue this time. Instead, he nodded in rare agreement.
I pressed my lips together to hide a smirk and put on a serious face. "We'll just stay here and listen. If something actually happens, we can step in and help." Jack nodded and followed my lead as we hid in the shadows, ears trained on their conversation.
Across the garden, Elsa stood with her arms crossed, wariness written all over her face as she eyed Liliana. "How did you get in here?" Liliana let out a cold chuckle. "You don't need to worry about that. If I want to get in somewhere, nothing can stop me." She stepped forward, her sharp gaze sweeping over Elsa like a blade. Her voice was soft, almost gentle, yet it carried a lethal edge.
"I heard you won second place, Ms. Brown." Elsa's eyes flickered uneasily, her response lacking confidence. "What does that have to do with you?" Liliana raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Are you saying it has nothing to do with me? I took a look at your competition entry, and compared to my design... Well, I wouldn't Call it 'similar. I'd call it identical." She tilted her head slightly, her tone unwavering. "So, tell me. Can I say, with absolute certainty, that you plagiarized me?" Liliana laughed softly, though there was no warmth in it. "No, wait. I should say that you didn't just copy my work; you submitted my design as your own." Elsa's face turned deathly pale.
Jack stiffened in shock beside me. His first instinct was to charge in and defend her. I quickly grabbed his arm. "If you rush in now, how do you think she's going to face you after this? What if this is just a ППП misunderstanding? Keep listening." Jack was torn, but in the end, he listened to me.

Meanwhile, across the garden, Elsa's expression only faltered for a m moment before she quickly regained her composure. She didn't deny it.
"So what?" She scoffed. "Didn't I buy those designs from you? I paid for them. That means they're mine to use however I want. What gives you the right to complain?"
Liliana's fury exploded. "You forcedto sell them! If I didn't, you would've made sure my father and had nowhere left to go! Do you think I wanted to hand over my work to you? But now, you're the one who walked away with second place. You gained fand prize money. Why the hell should you be rewarded for my designs?" Upon hearing this, Elsa didn't get angry. Instead, she laughed. "So that's what this is about-money. You want it? Fine. I'll pay you."
