I immediately made my way toward him. I was just about to speak when I suddenly heard Elsa's voice, exclaiming, "Jane! Eric!" No sooner had she spoken than Elsa cto a halt beside me. She was slightly out of breath as she had just jogged over moments ago.
I didn't see Jack, so I asked indifferently, "Where's Jack? I thought you were supposed to leave with him." Elsa explained gently, "Jack went to get something for me. He toldto wait for him outside." She then cast a veiled, covetous glance at Eric and added bashfully, "I didn't expect to run into Eric picking you up as soon as I stepped out." I turned away, rolling my eyes. It was hardly a coincidence. It was clear that she had figured out that Eric would be waiting forout here and followedon purpose.
Eric completely ignored her. Instead, he reached out and took my bag, intending to bring it into the car.

Upon hearing that, Eric and I immediately stopped in our tracks. I merely looked at Elsa before I smirked and asked, "What exactly are you apologizing for this time?" Elsa hesitated, fidgeting slightly. Her eyes hardly left Eric as she apologized towith a guilty expression, saying, "I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions based on that one line in your interview, Jane. I also didn't expect Jack to drag you over and force you to apologize to me. I truly didn't do it on purpose, Jane." Eric, cocking his brow, looked atand asked, "What did you say in the interview?" I pursed my lips before smiling and replying, "I simply stated the truth, but Jack pulledaside and insisted I apologize to Elsa." Upon hearing that, Eric turned his gaze to Elsa.
Elsa frantically waved her hands. Her face was a picture of innocence as she explained, "I didn't ask Jack to do such a thing, and I certainly didn't demand Jane to apologize to me!" She immediately shifted the blto someone else, saying, "It was that untrustworthy host who was instigating everything, setting Jane up. I nearly misunderstood Jane because of her!" Having said that, Elsa cautiously glanced at Eric andbefore suddenly leaning in toward Eric, whispering, "You see, that host spotted Jane's wedding ring and actually questioned Jane about it." I instantly knew what she was up to. I merely raised my brow and kept my silence.
And true to my expectations, Elsa looked atas if she had made a momentous decision. She gavea resolute glance before turning to Eric with feigned hesitation. She asked, "Have you done something to upset Jane lately, Eric?" Eric and I exchanged glances. Upon seeing the amusement in my eyes, Eric turned to Elsa and asked, "And what makes you say that?" "Earlier when the host asked Jane about her husband, Jane actually remained silent about it! You must have done something to anger her. Otherwise, she wouldn't have hidden her relationship!"
I couldn't help but chuckle and say, "Ah, I see what you're trying to do. Is this what you're after? You're trying to drive a wedge between us and make us fight over this, right?" asked as I fixed my gaze on Elsa, making no effort to conceal my thoughts.
Elsa's face paled as she immediately put on that signature aggrieved expression of hers. Her voice was even quivering as she said, "You've totally misunderstoodagain, Jane I'm only trying to be helpful here. I mean, if Eric made you upset, I could stand up for you!"
Eric scoffed and said, "You should mind your own damn business. You ought to know that what we do has nothing to do with you at all! Why are you so concerned with our "with" relationship? You're being way too nosy here!" Those remarks immediately made Elsa's face flush with embarrassment.
