Chapter 968: Jim, in a cheerful tone, remarked, "Mr. Lloyd, you seem in a good mood today." "Yes, he does," Allison agreed.
Kellan's voice was low as he glanced at Allison, his gaze casual but thoughtful. Earlier that day, when she had visited the Stevens family home, he had already set up for Sherman to keep an eye on things nearby. If Melany had tried to use the evidence to threaten Allison or do anything drastic, Sherman would have handled her right away.
But Allison didn't just leave the Stevens house unharmed. When she saw him, her first words were, "Kellan, bend down." He had no idea what had happened. But then, Allison stood on her tiptoes and kissed him. With the Rolls- Royce Phantom parked nearby, he instinctively leaned against the car window. Kellan felt a spark of arousal from that kiss.

With a soft pop, something inside him shifted. It felt as though bubbles had wrapped around his heart, popping one by one. The sweetness of it all was almost overwhelming. He found himself lost in her eyes, full of affection.
“You must be starving. Let's eat first,” Allison suggested. Jim stood beside the table and, with ease, handed Allison her utensils.
"Ms. Clarke, I hope you'll like these dishes. Mr. Lloyd arranged everything and even brought in a five-star chef from abroad," he said.
Kellan replied, “There's no need to bring that up again." "I see, Mr. Lloyd. I'm just happy to see Ms. Clarke having dinner with us," Jim responded.
Jim gently lifted Lorna into his arms. “Ms. Clarke, Lorna needs to take her medicine with her meals. I'll take her next door and follow Dr. Pierce's instructions to feed her," he explained. "Enjoy your meal." Allison gave a small nod. "Alright, go ahead." The familiar actions and warm smiles filled her with a sense of home. It wrapped around her heart like a comforting embrace. She no longer felt alone.
"Allison, you seem a little different today," Kellan said casually as he cut a piece of steak and handed it to her. "Did something happen at the Stevens' house?" Although the kiss in the car had left him entranced, Kellan could still tell that Allison was going through semotional ups and downs and seemed a bit worn out.
"The situation with the Stevens family is settled. Like I said, Melany was only making wild accusations, using a few photos but no real proof," she reassured him.
For Allison, it didn't matter much. It had only brought up a lot of old memories.

"Maybe too much has happened recently. I think I need to go to the island, to find the person I used to be," she said quietly. When Cotton! had pleaded so desperately, Allison E had seen a reflection of her own past.
She, too, had been good at running from things. That was why, even early on in her relationship with Kellan, when she sensed something was off with her emotions, she had chosen to ignore it.
It was like how people believed she had escaped the orphanage and survived alone on that desertedisland. In reality she had gone ality, shehsd gone through sof the darkest times there. As Verruckt had pointed out, people like them had already turned into monsters. But now, she wanted to confront her past and reconnect with her true self.
