Chapter 230
Mr. Burton glanced at Haynes with a sigh, "You, my friend, are the one with the most troubles today. Out of the
three of you, you're having the toughest time.
Sit down, letcheck and see what's really going on."
Haynes exchanged a look with Jasper, who scratched his head in embarrassment. Everyone said this old man
was a miracle worker, a legend of sorts. Jasper had spent a fortune and ages trying to track him down. Yet, here
they were, and the old guy couldn't even identify who had the terminal illness? Was he a fake miracle worker,
just a charlatan?
Rachel's eyes lit up with realization. If he was a fraud, that would be perfect! Frauds were only after money and

was improving, and in a year or so, declare herself cured. She'd been worried about how to keep up the act in a
few months’ time, but now the solution had presented itself.
Haynes sat down in front of Mr. Burton and extended his hand. Mr. Burton placed his fingers on Haynes's wrist.
Jasper watched Mr. Burton intently. If the old man dared to claim Haynes was the one with the terminal illness,
Jasper was ready to expose him as a fraud and parade him through town with a sign saying "I'm a fraud"
plastered on his chest.
Mr. Burton shook his head and sighed, "Ah, it's such a pity. So young and already plagued by an incurable
disease."
Jasper's eyes widened in disbelief. He was a fraud after all! Just as he was about to explode, Haynes's calm,
almost serene voice cut through the tension.
"May | ask, sir, what terminal illness do you think I have?"
Jasper bit back his retort, figuring Haynes wanted to see how the old man would spin his tale.
Mr. Burton stroked his grizzled beard, "Well, your eyes are in pretty bad shape. If you don't correct them soon,
you'll be blind."
"And your heart... it's not in the right place. It's quite off to the side, you see."
"But the worst is your brain." Mr. Burton tapped his own head solemnly. "It seems like stoxic liquid has
seeped in there. It's quite a mess, almost like soup. With all these issues, if that's not a terminal condition, then
what is?"

Jasper initially thought the old man was just a fraud. But as Mr. Burton continued, he started to doubt was
Haynes's heart really misplaced? By the end, Jasper realized they were being played.
What a cunning old man!
Haynes understood what was happening too. He looked at Mr. Burton. "Sir, you seem to have a lot of hostility
towards us."
Mr. Burton took off his reading glasses, "At least your brain's not entirely gone." Jasper was fuming, ready to
unleash a torrent of words, but Haynes stopped him. He looked at Mr. Burton, "Sir, may | ask why you feel this
way?"
Mr. Burton replied with a self-assured grin, "Why? Because you lot don't look like good people, that's why. You
just rubthe wrong way."
Haynes remained composed, "So, do you have a way to treat what we're dealing with?"
